Objective

The interim review meeting provides a regular opportunity to discuss and to agree any minor changes to criteria and system governance processes, and to resolve assessment disputes.

When used

The meeting is the central part of the interim review process.

Participants

The meeting is run by the system governance manager, and involves the system governance committee.

Notes

Preparation

Prior to the meeting, circulate the interim review report. This provides background information for the meeting, and lists the points for discussion in the meeting.

Focus of the meeting

The main output from the meeting is agreement on minor changes to criteria, resolution of assessment disputes, and other ongoing adjustments to system governance between annual reviews. Often there will be little to discuss and agree.

It is, however, still worth running the meetings. These reviews are the only regular opportunity to discuss system governance between annual reviews. Unlike many of the other review meetings, which have to be very focussed, it is reasonable to widen this meeting to discuss progress of assessments and the general level of improvement across the IT system portfolio. This will make the meeting relevant and interesting, even if there is little that actually requires agreement. This will help to retain the interest of the committee, to ensure that they give system governance the input it needs to remain relevant to the organisation.

  1. Introduction

    Introduce the meeting.

  2. Review

    Briefly present the progress and issues from the interim review report.

  3. Discussion points

    Present, discuss and gain agreement on each of the discussion points from the interim review report.

  4. Next steps

    Explain what happens next in the process. This will involve amending criteria as agreed in this meeting.

    State when the next meeting will take place, which will either be the next interim review or the annual review.
