3.1. Metrici Advisor

Previous | Next | Up | Contents

System governance is an information-intensive activity. Although it is theoretically possible to adopt system governance without any tool support, an automated tool reduces the effort associated with system governance significantly. It also helps maintain the quality and consistency of the information gathered with system governance, which would be particularly hard to manage without tool support.

Metrici Advisor is a secure on-line service created specifically to support system governance. It is pre-loaded with a library of best-practice criteria for system governance, as a basis for your own criteria. In overview, its features are:

  • Maintain and store criteria and assessments.
  • Support the validation of assessments.
  • Analyse assessments to calculate scores.
  • Detect issues using rules-based processing supported by an embedded expert system.
  • Create formatted analysis reports, and reports to assist with the management of system governance.
  • Allow information to be shared across the organisation, with fine-grained permissions structure to keep sensitive information confidential.
  • Version management for updating criteria and assessments in a controlled manner.

Metrici Advisor is available online from http://www.metrici.com. At the time of writing, a free trial is available.

See Section D.2, System governance with Metrici Advisor for an outline of suitable training in the use of Metrici Advisor.
