2.4. System governance committee
The system governance committee check that system governance reflects the objectives set down in the terms of reference.
The major contribution of the committee is to critique and agree the system governance criteria. They also discuss and resolve issues about the interpretation of criteria, and about assessments.
The committee are likely to be drawn from IT and general management. They may have parochial interests, or act as a representative for a group. The system governance sponsor ensures that the composition of the committee reflects the objectives of system governance.
The committee is not responsible for the progress of assessment activity, nor for the take up of the guidance coming from system governance. They do, however, have a watching brief over system governance in general. They critique that the processes are sound and that progress is meaningful, and can raise concerns with the system governance sponsor or manager as appropriate.
